Speaking to BusinessLine, WhatsApp Co-Founder Brian Acton had said in 2017 that the company was looking at how the platform can be used in the e-commerce and digital payments segments, among others.
“I had a great meeting with IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad where we discussed a number of things, including how WhatsApp can be used for civic engagements, how WhatsApp could be used for e-commerce and digital transactions and payments. All these are in the space of opportunity for WhatsApp. We would continue to research, evaluate and figure out what we can build that best serves the people of India,” Acton had told BusinessLine in an interview.

The payment feature is based on the UPI platform. To use the feature , as of now, a user will have to get an invite from someone who already has the payment facility. Once you get the invite, the user can activate the payment feature through the app settings.and in next update The option is found in the attachment menu between the Document and Gallery.

Now shearing you some tricks to get payment feature in your WhatsApp by following some simple steaps:

1) update your WhatsApp latest version in your android phone or ios device the latest stable version is 2.18.46.

2) Once WhatsApp is updated, you need the help of someone who already has WhatsApp Payment feature activated on their phone. That’s because Payments feature will be enabled only when a certain WhatsApp user who has Payments activated tries to send you a payment on your WhatsApp number.
(Note: The sender doesn’t need to send any money to enable it for others).

3)once payment is made automatically feature will be unable in your phone.

Under Bank accounts, you can easily add new accounts and set up your UPI PIN (if not set up earlier) by verifying the debit card linked to that bank account. The WhatsApp Payments Settings page also shows the payment history, lets you set a primary account and remove a bank account.  As you might have noticed, the UPI payments are processed by ICICI Bank.
